At the time, furniture was still mainly made by craftsmen one by one, and it was very expensive, so ordinary people could not easily buy it. Mogensen believed that "furniture makes people happy" and had a dream of making it possible for ordinary young people to buy high-quality furniture, and in order to make that dream come true, he became the first representative of FDB Möbler.

Mogensen had a very good relationship with FDB Möbler, and he would go on to change the environment that had previously made mass production impossible and lay the foundations for FDB Möbler.

This J52 was originally designed as the J6, but later the seat and other details were changed, and the product number was changed. However, it appeared in FDB Möbler's very first advertisement, and has since been used in posters and other media, becoming a popular signature product.

Following the teachings of Coak Klint, the J52 was inspired by the British Windsor chair, and is a spoke-back chair redesigned to suit the Danish social climate of the time, to be simple, beautiful and easy to make.

When the J6 was replaced by the J52, a new rocking type, the J52G, was developed, which, together with the standard J52B, led the era as one of FDB Möbler's representative chairs. Because this design was the face of FDB Möbler, it was retained until the end and was one of the first to be reproduced.

About FDB Møbler

FDB Møbler is a furniture brand founded in Denmark in 1942 with the aim of improving the standard of living of its citizens, with the concept of "durable, beautiful, comfortable, and affordable furniture."

FDB Möbler is the abbreviation for the Danish Co-operative Union, which was founded by Christian Sonne in 1866, and the company's furniture division, FDB Möbler, was established in 1942.

Although production was partially halted in the 1980s, due to overwhelming support it was revived and restarted in Denmark in 2013.
