About BRITA SWEDE

This textile brand was founded in 2010 by mother Margaretha and sisters Pia and Monica. The brand name "BRITA" comes from the name of Margaretha's grandmother, who was a craftswoman specializing in weaving, knitting, screen printing, etc. in Tornedalen, a valley near the border between Sweden and Finland.

In 2007, they started making everyday items to brighten up our lives, such as bedding, aprons, and tablecloths made from organic materials, and in 2009 their plastic rugs gained popularity, leading to the launch of the brand in 2010. Currently, they offer rugs from a variety of materials, not only natural materials such as wool and cotton, but also eco-friendly materials such as plastic foil and recycled PET, while also operating as a design studio.

About BRITA SWEDE rugs

BRITA rugs are woven from soft vinyl foil that is phthalate-free - an allergy-friendly material that is washable and durable. All designs are made in our Stockholm studio and the rugs are woven in Sweden using ancient weaving techniques.

BRITA rugs can be used both indoors and outdoors and are perfect for verandas and balconies as well as kitchens, hallways and children's rooms. Most designs are woven in jacquard and can be double-sided.

The material's manufacturer is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified, and the material is approved for use in the food industry and for toy manufacturing. It is produced using less energy than most other plastics, such as PET and PP, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint, and the material is recyclable.

Plastic rugs are a traditional product made in Sweden since the 1940s, and can be said to be creative products that capture mass-produced materials from a new perspective. They feel like natural fibers and are comfortable even when barefoot. They are also useful not only indoors but also outdoors, and are stain-resistant and easy to clean, making them ideal as kitchen mats.

Brita Sweden rugs are extremely durable and, if you follow the care instructions, will last you a long time. In addition, due to the nature of the plastic foil material, it is resistant to fading and discoloration, so you can use it for a long time without losing its original look.
