Named to carry on memories from long ago, 1616 / arita japan follows the traditions of Arita ware but attempts a different design approach from previous Arita ware. It is a new series of tableware that is in step with the future.
This is Arita ware tableware designed by Teruhiro Yanagihara. The simple, timeless design and the wide variety of options are truly standard. It comes in two colors: glossy glazed white and unglazed plain gray with a matte texture.
Arita, Saga Prefecture, the birthplace of Arita ware, is said to be where the first ceramics in Japan were made in 1616 by the founder of ceramics, Ri San-pyeong. Even after 400 years, the unfading and uncompromising spirit of craftsmanship has been passed down to the people who support Arita today. Working with the people of Arita, who have a wealth of experience and skills, designer Teruhiro Yanagihara has created a new ceramics brand that connects the story while engaging in dialogue with the history of Arita up to the present day.
