ARNE JACOBSEN Wall Clock Station
The reason why the legendary Jacobsen design, which was produced in 1943 as part of a project with Lauritz Knudsen and was the first to hit the market as a table clock, is called "STATION". This is because, while soft, handwritten fonts were the mainstream and widely used in Europe at the time, Jacobsen adopted a font that emphasized visibility over design, in line with the philosophy of functional beauty of the German Bauhaus, and released a clock that was the simplest and could fit into any space. This clock design quickly spread throughout Denmark after its release.
This simple and universal clock design was adopted for train stations, a place where the majority of citizens need to see clocks, and it blends in naturally as if it had been there from the beginning, becoming an important tool for telling time to many people. The Lauritz Knudsen Museum has a collection of clocks with the same font as STATION. STATION, the first clock to feature a black case and Arabic indexes, is a versatile product that blends naturally into the atmosphere, interior, and scenery of the place even today.
