Who is Bruno Mathsson? He was born in 1907 in Varnamo in southern Sweden as the son of a furniture maker. He learned furniture making from an early age, and after gaining experience as a furniture maker, he established his own workshop and produced many masterpieces. He released his signature work, EVA, in 1934, and the Carlin Chair in 1968. In 1981, he was awarded the title of Professor by the Swedish government. The furniture he designed is coveted as a masterpiece of Swedish modernism. There is an anecdote that when he visited Tendo in 1974, he expressed a strong desire to stay in an inn with tatami mats.
